Admission Process Into Different Universities For Studying Abroad

Admission into CollegesThe application process starts with processing of the applications. One needs to acquire the admission forms, fill it up and then send it for submission. This should generally be done six months in advance to augment the chances of getting scholarships. Now a days most of the universities offer the admission form online. One needs to fill the form online and pay the fees through a credit card while the requisite documents can be mailed along with the marks scored in the entrance test.

Depending on the country, one needs to send the test score .In some countries one has to report the score officially through ETS while other may need the hard copy to be sent to them by post. Once every document and the test scores are received, the university can start the selection criteria. It takes normally 4 to 6 weeks for a university to process application and make a decision. On completion, they issue the acceptance letter and the admission letter by post (in the USA it is called as I-20, in the UK it is called offer letter). This may take two to three weeks to reach India by post. The admission letter itself maintains if a student is eligible for a Scholarship.

Some of the foreign countries offer scholarships under cultural exchange programmes to eligible candidates who are interested to study in those countries. These scholarships are channelised in India via the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development.Department of Education administers only those scholarships/fellowships, which are being offered by the foreign countries under Cultural Exchange Programmes and other Programmes. The subject fields are generally chosen on the basis of facilities that are available in the donor for that subject field and also keeping in view the national needs. On receipt of the offer of scholarships/fellowships from the donor country, the same is advertised in Employment News and other leading newspapers and through circulars to States/UT's, Universities etc. giving all the details regarding amount of scholarship, age limit, educational qualification, experience etc. Application format is also published in the advertisement. Students willing to study abroad, need to fill up the application form and apply to the department of education. On receipt of the application forms, the Department of education scans them and send the selected profiles to the respective universities. These universities after making the final selection notify the students.
