English Proficiency Tests

There are basically two tests which are recognised worldwide for testing the English Proficiency of  Non Native Non English students. These are TOEFL and IELTS.Please find detailed information about these tests below.

Test Program

Test Of English As Foreign Language(TOEFL)

One of the most widely used standardized English Tests which a Non Native English student  needs to appear and qualify - for studying abroad,scores of  the TOEFL Test are accepted for  almost all programs in US. The TOEFL test evaluates the ability of an individual to use and understand English in an academic setting.The scores of TOEFL are accepted in almost all colleges and universities in the US  for admitting Non English students to different programs.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

International English Language Testing System, is an international standardised test of English language proficiency. It is jointly managed by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, the British Council and IDP Education Pty Ltd, and was established in 1989.

IELTS score is accepted by most Australian, British, Canadian, Irish, New Zealand and South African academic institutions, a few  academic institutions in the United States, and various professional organisations. It is also a requirement for immigration to Australia and Canada.

An IELTS result or Test Report Form is valid for two years.s in U.K., Canada, Australia, New Zealand.

Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

The SAT Reasoning Test (formerly Scholastic Aptitude Test and Scholastic Assessment Test) is a standardized test for college admissions in the United States.the SAT measures literacy and writing skills that are needed for academic success in college. They state that the SAT assesses how well the test takers analyze and solve problems—skills they learned in school that they will need in college. The SAT is typically taken by high school sophomores, juniors and seniors.There are two separate tests of SAT that are needed to be undertaken by students based on their requirement.

SAT – I Required for almost all Undergraduate Programs in US

SAT – II Required by a few Universities in US for specific courses

Graduate Record Exam (GRE)

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a commercially-run standardized test that is an admission requirement for many graduate schools in the United States[1] and in other English-speaking countries.The GRE exam measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical writing skills that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are not related to any specific field of study.

Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a Computer-Adaptive standardized test in mathematics and the English language for measuring aptitude to succeed academically in graduate business studies. Business schools commonly use the test as one of many selection criteria for admission into graduate business administration programs (e.g. MBA, Master of Accountancy, etc.) principally in the United States, but also in other English-speaking countries
