Course Details

Talent in painting is inborn. However the skills can be developed by further training and constant practice. Degree in painting in the form of BA in Arts and Painting is available across many colleges in the country. Eligibility for the same is 10+2 in any subject. Some institutes also offer diploma courses in painting, the eligibility criteria being the same. While undergraduate diploma courses in painting are also available in some colleges/institutes.

Career Scope  in Paintings

A career in paintings is slowly becoming a good option in India as the prices of paintings done by Indian artists have soared a lot in recent years in the global market. And even in India, more and more people have started appreciating the works of art, thus increasing the commercial value of art works. And a career in art is not restricted to just being a painter of canvas that is framed and sold in gallery. There is a graphic or professional artist behind every work of art in a magazine, newspaper, poster and book. There are graphic artists, website designers, computer-graphic artists and animators working in various industries such as film, TV, computer games, art galleries, museums and teaching art theory. Photography, interior designing, shop window design, textile and cloth design, architecture and engineering, these all fields need imaginative skills and expert painters. So these places are natural places of employment for painters and artists. Similarly many art houses have opened in India in recent years which augur well for budding artists. For fresher who get employed in media houses painting pictures for magazines etc, the salary can be somewhere around Rs 70000 to Rs 10000.
